Spray Drying
Spray drying technology is used to shorten the drying time by increasing the gas-liquid contact area to transforms a liquid sample into a dry powder in a single step, which is a cheaper, faster and more energy efficient and cost-effective alternative to lyophilization, such that the former could possibly replace the latter to generate dry particles. Its unique features include continuous operation, reduction of powder particle size, and preparing amorphous particles to enhance the solubility of low solubility drugs like BCS II/IV compounds, as well as the in-vivo bioavailability.
Sunny has developed spray drying technology platform with semi-closed system for few projects (orphan drug and CNS area) and was granted with two US patents (US 9511341B2, US 9186817B2).
